Feature Design

Greetings, Adventurer!

The Yondore Online logo.

Hello friend, and welcome to Yondore! If you're reading this, you are one of my project's earliest supporters, and I want to thank you for that. Of course, it could also be the case that you're just looking through archives, in which case the sentiment is the same! It's that sort of exploration and curiosity that is a constant inspiration for the world we're building.

Yondore is a game inspired by classic online role-playing games (ORPGs). While capturing the legacy of those games and their systems, I hope to also introduce novel ideas and features for contemporary RPG enthusiasts to enjoy!

Read on to learn more about this project, and check out our community page for ways to stay updated on its progress!

A Christmas Story

Yondore started as a proof of concept for an ORPG that I coded during a break from work between Christmas and New Year's Day. My goal then was to create a game with the minimal capabilities of hosting multiple players, talking to friendly NPCs, and fighting spiders to collect apples. To my surprise, this concept alone was enough of a hook to keep my friends (my original play-testers) engaged!

The Past Few Years

Over the past few years, I've continued to work on Yondore, adding established ORPG systems that fans have enjoyed since the advent of the genre. These include stat-based combat, shopping, gathering, crafting, spell-casting, ranged combat, and dynamic dialogue with NPCs. Progress has been slow but steady, as I was the sole developer with a full time job.

The Journey Onwards

As of late, I've found the opportunity to work on Yondore full time! The start of this developer log marks the beginning of this new chapter of Yondore's journey, one which I hope will release it to the world for you to enjoy!

Thank you again for reading my developer log! Please consider joining us by visiting the community page. I'd love to hear your feedback, wishes, and hopes for the game. An ORPG is only as good as its players!
